circuit breaker tripping frequently
Licensed Commercial Electricians in Ottawa
A sudden power outage in a single room is usually because a circuit breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown. These are safety devices that automatically shut off the power in the event of a problem. The solution is to turn the breaker back to the “on” position or to replace the fuse.
Why Circuit Breaker Trips?
- Short Circuit – A short circuit is a serious problem. When the “hot” wire (black) touches a neutral wire (white), a short is caused and the breaker will trip.
- Ground Fault – This is when a hot wire contacts a ground wire or a metal box or wood framing. This is very dangerous especially around moisture laden areas like kitchens.
- Arc Fault – This is a high power discharge of electricity between two or more conductors. It is every bit as serious as it sounds. This will probably be the cause of a fire.
If you have circuit breakers that are tripping out more than they should, contact a reliable electrician who can resolve these dangerous situations.
